Open Education Week (March 1-5) is a time to celebrate the global Open Education Movement and raise awareness about freely available educational materials such as textbooks and the impact this can have on students everywhere.

To support cost savings for students, NEIU Libraries invites applications to attend a faculty workshop on introductory open educational resources at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 7. At this workshop, faculty will learn more about different types of open educational resources and the benefits of adopting open educational resources, and will have the chance to ask any questions about these resources.

Faculty who attend the two-hour workshop and write one brief review of an open educational resource for the Open Textbook Library within 30 days of the workshop date will receive a $200 stipend.

Participation for the workshop is capped at 20 faculty (instructors, adjuncts and tenure-track faculty are eligible), and priority registration will be given to faculty who have taught, are teaching or plan to teach general education courses in academic year 2020-2021 or academic year 2021-2022. Attendees from the Spring 2020 workshop are not eligible.

Apply online through Sunday, March 28. Please contact Education Librarian Michelle Oh at m-oh@neiu.edu or Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies Librarian Robin Harris at r-harris14@neiu.edu with any questions.
