Want to help reclaim Wikipedia? A lack of diversity among Wikipedia editors and writers leads to bias and underrepresentation, adding to an alarming absence of shared knowledge on one of the most visited websites in the world. One way to tackle this problem is to participate in a Wikipedia edit-a-thon, an organized event where people come together to edit and improve Wikipedia pages, held with the intention of increasing representation of identified groups and providing basic training to new editors.

As part of this year's Women's History Month celebration, NEIU is hosting a Feminisms in Science Wikipedia Edit-a-thon on Thursday, March 31, from 1:30-6pm in the third floor classroom in the Ronald Williams Library. Please join us, because representation matters!

The NEIU Libraries want to celebrate the research and work our students have done this year! Please consider participating in the NEIU Libraries 9th Annual Awards for Excellence in Research which recognizes outstanding student efforts in the area of library-based research.

This year, up to four applications from the different colleges will be selected to receive $300 each. We have expanded eligibility requirements from past years to include all currently enrolled students who have used NEIU Libraries resources for a research-based assignment.

The deadline to apply is Sunday, April 24 at 11:59 p.m. CDT. Submissions require three short-answer questions and a bibliography of sources. Please click here or more information and to enter.
