HathiTrust Digital Library is a large-scale collaborative repository of digital content from research libraries including content digitized via Google Books and the Internet Archive digitization initiatives, as well as content digitized locally by libraries.

Project Gutenberg offers over 57,000 free eBooks. Choose among free epub books, free kindle books, download them or read them online. You will find the world's great literature here, with focus on older works for which copyright has expired.

Select "Treasures in Full" or "Online Gallery/Turning the Pages" to view detailed reproductions of books and manuscripts. The collection is stronger in medieval and early modern literature, though it includes ancient and modern works of importance, such as the original "Alice in Wonderland" and Mozart's musical diary.

The Internet's largest collection of Greco-Roman texts and commentary. Perseus also includes smaller collections of Renaissance and 19th century American sources and has recently added texts in Arabic.

I know this website looks dated -- and it is! But it also hosts high-resolution images of more than 400 different books in the sciences and humanities in high-resolution images. Some works include the Shakespeare folios, scientific treatises by Galileo, and the Gutenberg Bible.
