Native American & Indigenous Peoples' Heritage Month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. Heritage Month is also an opportunity to raise awareness about the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.

Please enjoy these reading and viewing recommendations featuring indigenous authors or topics on indigenous identities in honor of the month. All materials are available as e-books or online resources through the NEIU Libraries.

And check out the Native American Peoples' Heritage Month events led by NEIU faculty, staff, and students!

November 29, 2022 is #GivingTuesday, the global movement unleashing the power of radical generosity!  This year, you can make a financial contribution directly to the NEIU Libraries. The facilities your contributions support include the Ronald Williams Library and the branch libraries at El Centro and the Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies.

At the Libraries, everything we do is geared toward promoting student success. Donations will assist us in funding collections, resources, and programs to help students learn and grow.

  • New books
  • Textbooks (to help reduce the cost of higher education for students)
  • Media equipment
  • Library Award for Excellence in Student Research

Visit the University Libraries Giving page to make a donation!
