Accountants and auditors have their own professional organizations.

American Accounting Association (AAA)
AAA is an organization that promotes worldwide excellence in accounting education, practice and research. AAA has around 8,000 members and publishes both "The Accounting Review" and "Accounting Horizons."
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)
AICPA is an organization for CPAs. AICPA works closely with FASB to set standards and guidelines. AICPA has over 350,000 members and publishes the "Journal of Accountancy."
Illinois CPA Society
Founded in 1903, the Illinois CPA Society is one of the largest state CPA societies in the nation with more than 21,700 members.
Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
IIA is an organization for those working in internal auditing and risk management. IIA has more than 130,000 members and publishes "Internal Auditor."
Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)
IMA is an organization for accountants who work inside organizations. IMA has about 60,000 members and publishes "Strategic Finance."
International Federation of Accountants (IFAC)
IFAC is a global accountancy organization. IFAC represents more than 2.5 million members and works with 158 member, associate and affiliate organizations in 123 countries (like AICPA and IIA in the United States).
