As stated on the NEIU WGS website, Women’s and Gender Studies (WGS) is an interdisciplinary field that explores how power is distributed and used along the intersections of race, class, gender, geography, age, abilities and sexualities.
The WGS Department at NEIU offers a major in Women's and Gender Studies, as well as a minor in WGS and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Studies. Classes with the Librarian pages were created to meet the specific research needs of different courses.
