Faculty Guide to the Library

This library guide provides helpful information for NEIU Faculty.

How does the library fit into your grant preparation?

When putting together your grant, consider how the NEIU Libraries might fit in. Will you need additional library resources that require financial support? Schedule a library analysis to help inform your budget before you start writing your proposal.

Are there new library resources or services your grant could fund, such as:

  • Databases or digital resources
  • Space, equipment, data plans, or other resources to host new assets
  • Research workshops led by librarians

Or are there existing resources that will need to be funded?

  • Ensured continuity of existing resources and subscriptions
  • Travel funds or conference costs to train librarians on new resources

Advantages to partnering with the library on your grant:

  • Resources purchased with grant funds could be housed in and maintained by the NEIU Libraries, where all students would have continual access to them
  • Expert librarians can work with you and assist with student research development
  • NEIU Libraries can help promote your research to satisfy grant agreements through the NEIUIdeas podcast

Article Processing Charges

Don’t forget to write in the cost of Article Processing Charges (APC) to ensure open access to your resulting research publications. Ask the NEIU Libraries for help identifying publications and their charges.
